If you have applied for the Search engine optimization executive job or have an interview scheduled for the same. so for that, I have prepared the list of most asked SEO interview Questions. In this article, the question I will discuss will be beneficial for the persons who are having at least one year of experience in the SEO field and also excellent for Beginners who want to land on there the first job.

So without taking your further time let’s prepare you for the most asked Interview Questions.

1- What does Search Engine Optimization Stand for and Why it is Necessary?

Search Engine Optimization can be defined as the process of optimizing your website/page architecture in terms of search engine Policy. Optimizing our website architecture is beneficial for getting good positioning in SERP(Search engines result in pages), which in return helps to get organic traffic from search engines for particular queries/Keywords.

In short, Search engine Optimization can be defined as the set of practices we do for improving our website appearance and positioning on search engine result pages for the different sets of keywords.

2- Difference Between Organic Results and Paid Results?

  • Organic Result – In terms of Search Engine Optimization, Organic results can be defined as the results that are provided by the search engine based on relevance, content quality, and other ranking factors. certain factors affect a blog to rank on the search engine result page for the particular queries.

In other words, we can define organic results, as the result which we get after entering a Particular Queries in the Search bar. for the easy perspective you can see it in the image below.

  • Paid Results – In SEO Field Paid results can be defined as the result in which advertisers tend to pay the money to show their ads on the search engine results page whenever someone runs a “search query” Containing the keywords for which the ads are optimized.

As this question is not often asked because it depends on the interviewer according to the previous questions you have answered.

But Google Sandbox Period Can be defined as the period in which a newly formed website is on some kind of Probation period for some time hence it cannot rank successfully for its most important keywords.

4- Define Keywords and their types?

Keywords help to tell the google crawlers or the users what our content is all about. it is the word or a search query for which we want to rank on the Google Search engine result page. For Ex- Let’s say you have a website that provides web development and digital marketing services, so for that, you should be focusing on a keyword like [best web development company + place] you want to rank your website in short [Keyword] + in + [Location].

for finding more relevant content you can use various tools like Google keyword planner, ahrefs, SemRush, Keywords Everywhere, etc.

Types of Keywords –

  • Short Tail Keywords – Short-tail Keywords can be called the focus keywords. focus keywords are the keywords that are no more than 2 words or are very specific but refer to very broad topics. Shorts tails keywords have higher search volume than long-tail keywords which are hard to rank. For Ex- SEO, Digital Marketing.
  • Long-Tail Keywords –   Long-tail Keywords can be called the keywords whose character length is more than 4-5 words. Long-tail- keywords tend to have low search volume and can be ranked easily. For Ex- What is Digital Marketing, Coffee shops near me, best web development company near me. these are examples of long-tail keywords.

5- List some of the Quality Ranking Factors according to Google?

Quality factors can be called the factors that Google considers to behave a good organic ranking in SERP. Following are some of the important factors according to Google –

  • Quality Content – For Ranking Quality Content place a vital role. google only rank the content that it thinks will full fill the user queries.
  • Mobile-first – This means that your website should be responsive to various mobile devices.
  • Quality and Relevant Backlinks – Backlinks play a major role in improving organic ranking. while making backlinks you should focus on Quality not the Quantity of Backlinks. it will be good for your website if the backlinks will be coming From High DA and PA websites.
  • Page Loading Speed – Page Loading Speed plays a vital role in SEO. it can be defined as the time taken by the content on your website to load more the loading time of the page the more user will get hamper and will leave your website. without visiting your other page which will increase your Bounce Rate. A good page speed should be around under 3 Seconds. it will be better it if is below 2.
  • Domain Strength – Domain strength is also called Domain Authority. It is calculated between 1-100, the higher the domain authority higher will be chance for content to rank on Google SERP. it can be Checked by MOZ bar Extension.
  • Internal links – Internal Links play a good role in SEO ranking. suppose you have a post ranking under 10 in SERP. and related to that post you have to add a new post and provide an internal link to the newly uploaded post. so from the ranking post, the traffic will get diverted to your post which in return will help to improve your ranking.

6- Define Keyword Frequency, Keyword Density, Keyword Difficulty, and Keyword Proximity in SEO?

As above Mentioned Questions most freshers get Confused or interviewers confused them by asking the same question in other words. So don’t worry you will clear your doubts after reading this article.

  • Keyword Frequency – Keyword Frequency can be defined as that how much time your keyword is appearing in the web content or on the page. According to analysis, it is said that your keyword should not appear in more than once 100 words. we should use keywords in such a way that it should be considered keyword spamming or keyword stuffing.
  • Keyword Density – Both the term Keyword Density and Keyword Frequency means the same that your keyword or related keyword should not occur more than once per 100 words. For Ex –  If your keyword is appearing 2 times in 100 words so the keyword density will be 2%.

Note- According to Experts While Writing content you should be aware that you should keep keyword density between 2% – 3%.

  • Keyword Difficulty – The Keyword Difficulty Metrics helps you to measure how difficult is to rank for that keyword you are using in your post. More the Keyword Difficulty lower will be the chance to rank for that particular keyword. that’s why most bloggers are targeting that keyword who is having a good amount of search volume and less keyword difficulty.
  • Keyword Proximity – Keyword Proximity can be defined as the distance between two keywords on a web page.

7- What is Bounce Rate in SEO?

No Interview is Completed without this Question. without further due let us dive in and clear your all doubts.

Bounce Rate in SEO can be defined as the percentage of visitors who goes back without performing any further actions on your website such as navigating to another page. In Technical terms, it can be calculated as the Total Number of One-Page visits divided by the total number of entries on a website.

Note – The Bounce rate can depend on the platform or the device also for E-commerce Website it is analyzed nearby by 47% to 50%. and as a whole 25% to 40% is considered to be an excellent bounce rate in SEO.

8- What is Robots.txt?

Robots.txt is a text file. it helps the search crawlers by giving instructions on how to index and cache a website. In simple terms, it tells crawlers by giving instructions on which URL they can crawl and index and which not. Robots.txt file can be edited. For blocking an URL from indexing we simply have to put a noindex tag.

9- Define XML Sitemap?

EXL Stands For “Extensible Markup Language” XML sitemap helps to tell the search crawlers about the recent changes made on a website. it also tells google crawlers the information about the pages, videos, and other files on your website and also helps to tell about the website structure. There are various tools for Generating sitemaps. Personally which I use is Rankmath as it is an overall tool for website SEO optimization and also has a good user interface.

10- What are Backlinks?

Backlinks are Created when a website is linked back to Your Website then a link is established from that the link also passes which helps to increase your Domain Authority and Page Authority.

11- What are Redirects?

Another Important question in SEO is Define Redirect.

As the term itself gives its definition. but in technical terms, it can be defined as the process of redirecting one page to another page which simply means to give a new URL to that old page. The process of Redirection is used widely in SEO. there are two types of Redirects.

12- Difference Between Temporary and Permanent Redirects?

As mentioned above redirect plays a vital role simply their multiple redirects but in SEO we mainly use two types of Redirects as mentioned below –

  • 301 Permanent Redirection –  Permanent Redirection is 301 Redirection, In technical terms, this redirection is done when we have to permanently move a page to another new page. Note- In the permanent Redirect link juice is passed to another page from the old one. resulting in no loss in traffic. Most SEO persons use 301 Redirect as it helps to pass link juice also resulting in no loss.
  • 302 Temporary Redirection – As the name itself defines but In technical terms this redirection tells that a page has been moved to a new location but for a certain time. Note-  In this redirection link juice is not passed. Mostly we use 302 when we have to divert traffic to other pages/websites for a certain period.

13- Difference Between Black Hat and White Hat SEO?

Black Hat Optimization – Black Hat Can be defined as the Practices against Search Engines Guidelines for Improving ranking higher in SERP(Search Engine Result Page). Some techniques of Black Hat are – Keyword Stuffing, Cloaking, Sneaky redirects, Paid Links, Blog comment spam, and using transparent lines of codes containing keywords.

White Hat Optimization – White Hat SEO can be defined as the practices which we follow regarding Google to improve ranking in SERP. some techniques according to google for the white hat are: providing quality content, Using keywords word in URL, title, and meta description, Using H1 tags, avoiding overuse of a keyword, Internal links, and much more.

14- What are Canonical Tags?

The canonical tag is a snippet of HTML code that helps the crawlers to identify the main version of the page. we can use(rel=”canonical”) to instruct crawlers which is the main version and which is the duplicate one.

15- What are Do-follow links and Follow Links and how to Identify them?

No SEO interview will be Completed without this question that’s why I mentioned it the last.

  • Do-Follow Links – Do-follow links are the link that links back to your website and also pass link juice which increases website Domain Authority and helps to divert traffic. Identification – of the Link has [rel=”dofollow”] attribute then it is a do-follow link.
  • No-follow Links – In technical terms, the main difference between Do-follow links and No-follow links is that No-follow links contain [rel=”nofollow”], and also no link juice is passed when a link is no-follow.
